Biden could reinstate them by EO, just like how Trump cut them. He hasn't though. There is a bipartisan consensus that the safety of the rail system is less important than rail company profits.

I've never used it, but you might be interested in Shen [0]. There's also Babushka, which is a lightweight interpreted backend for Clojure [1] that is very practical for scripting, etc. [0] https://shenlanguage.org&#x2F

That's still awkward and confusing for what would be one of the most common use-cases, if it were less awkward.

Grad students do the heavy lifting of teaching and research. Universities would fall apart without them. That's plenty of leverage.

We have the most competent people possible running our country and the world economy. There was no way to avoid this.

If you are talking about monetary stimulus/low interest rates, you have a point, but if you are talking about expanded unemployment or Berniebucks, that's been gone from the economy for quite some time.

You need a lot of area for that - incident sunlight is proportional to land area. To get the same amount of sunlight, you'd need to cover around the same square footage of land as there is area in the vertical farm with mirrors, and th

The TGV is excellent and cost-effective, IMO. Elsewhere trains are way too much trouble and expense, even as a solo traveler.

Yeah, I wish they sold derailleur hangers in six-packs. I've always wanted a Rohloff for commuting, but they aren't cheap.

What a dumb post. Remote work can be just as productive or more productive. Workers work for a paycheck and want a good quality of life. That's not entitlement, it's called not being a bootlicker.

There's an area NE of Seattle in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness that I've done a lot of hiking in. That puts it downwind. Every time I've been there, without fail, I've found multiple balloons. Sad to think of all that plas

Sounds like they built a novel kind of vacuum chamber. A larger balloon would have larger compressive stress over its entire surface. I'm very skeptical that could ever be made to float.

That's getting back to my point though - the integral is over measurable sets of reals, and we are approximating that with finite-difference floats. This is a complex problem with many guises.

Yeah the condition number helps in simple cases (or when solving single linear systems), but things rapidly spiral once you start getting into solving stiff ODEs, etc - to the point that only numerical specialists can judge it. I feel like
