My guess was that they wanted to reduce the chance of news leaking before they announced it. If they're like other large companies I've seen from the inside, changes to the main website involve lots of meetings and lots of people&

Visa's product is called Account Updater[1] and MasterCard's is Billing Updater[2]. It allows previously approved billers to get updated card information when a card is replaced due to expiration, loss, fraud, upgrade, etc. [1] h

When I was moving into my first apartment in 2000, one of my planned roommates had the same problem. He had never had any sort of credit/debt account and the landlord wasn't able to actually pull a credit report.

They do it now. Typically businesses only report credit information to one of the bureaus. They exchange information with each other so information eventually makes it around to all three.

It's ridiculous, but no property management company wants to risk a fine when the cost of checking the OFAC SDN list is so small. I'm not sure if we ever saw a decline due to the OFAC list, so I could easily see it would take a lo

My experience is from California, but I've worked for a property management company. You'd be in no way safe in changing the locks, unless you gave the tenants on the lease new keys as you were changing them.

Thankfully, at least SF Muni has traffic enforcement cameras on the buses and trains and they issue tickets when folks are in the bus lane & bus stops.

When I moved to a building in SOMA (1045 Mission), I thought it was odd that the unit had air conditioning. Turns out the damn unit needed it most spring/summer days to keep the interior temp in the 70/80s. It probably had somethi

It was up to the journalists. According to the interview Glenn Greenwald did on "Pod Save the World", Snowden gave the journalists a giant dump of documents and they had to go through them to determine what was newsworthy. Snowden

I had something like that happen when I refinanced a car loan. The old lender released the title and sent it to me. About a year later the new lender finally noticed they didn't have the title and asked for it.

The banks don't want to cannibalize their wire transfer business. For example, WFB charged us $0.10 per ACH transaction and $15 per wire.

I worked for a company that used fast payments to induce vendors to accept payment via "payment card." If a vendor wanted to continue getting checks or ACH payments, the payment would be processed 2 days before the late date. In t
