Outsourcing WAF is a double-edged sword. I would have thought a large company like GitHub or Microsoft can have their own WAF team for their apps. (NPM is owned by GitHub, and GitHub is owned by Microsoft)

Isn't this by problem solved by using commoncrawl data. I wonder what changed to AI companies to do mass crawling individually. https://commoncrawl.org/

I have seen people report confirmation emails, they themself requested. Internet is not what we used to have years ago, currently the majority of users are not tech literate and that creates new problems now.

If I read the script correctly, it still points to git.kernel.org however, it seems to use the git bundle technique mentioned in the article.

Oh thanks, I have looking for a IPv6 enabled discord alterative for years now. Will try it out and share with the IPv6 community on the mastodon as well.

site just loaded for me and its just a marketing page. I bet the waiting room makes it worse, since it cannot cache the page due to having the waiting room. also the page has `via2.0 heroku-router' header.

The TLS requirement from HTTP2 also hindered http2 origin uptake. The TLS handshake adds latency and is unnecessary on some instances. (This is mentioned in heading "Extra Complexity" in the article)

> "I wrote an email to Google to say, 'you have access to my computer, is that right?'", he added. sounds extra fishy, since google does not provide email support normally.

Public IPv4 address exhausted and NAT happened. Even having IPv6 is not a proper solution because of laggy ISPs(currently reaching ~50%) and the even the ISPs who deploy, do not deploy it properly. (dynamic prefixes or inbound blocked IPv6)

> CDN and WAF seems unfair, those go beyond the definition of the web Current web is full of WAFs and CDNs, devops should know that they exist at the very least.

I built a bit similar simple tool which tracks failed HTTP domains. https://v6check.miyuru.lk/ will add a link to your site on the failed domains page.
