FridayGPT is also not really open about the need for an API key on their landing page. Only in the FAQ they mention it. Seems a bit shady to me. There are also other AI tools listed there. https://buyoncesoftware.com/?cate

Had the same experience in Namibia in 2022. First I should sent them my credit card stuff via mail. Then via a website which looked like it would automatically write my data to a mail and send it to them :D. I used a freshly generated virtu

The sad thing is, that at some point they truly get exposed (big leak) and your name might come up because they have nobody else to blame. I wish you the best and hope you have lawyer insurance.

It's more or less the same for every hype technology. Most people only glance over the executive slides version of the description of the technology (which is understandable because they have different priorities). Others have already

Coca-Cola is mostly produced locally. Atleast the mixing of Sirup and bottling is. I personally don't know if they ship their sirup around the world.

Ah ok, thanks for the info. Had hoped I could jump on HA Voice right away because I have already a small HA server in my home.

Thanks, good info. I read nothing about the multi-room-music-feature. Do you by chance know if it can be done?

Seems like the majority thinks it is like that. Otherwise LibreWolf would not have many users. Please pick a different browser if it is not for you. Waterfox has less restrictions and might be a better fit.

No that is why I'm asking. I want a replacement. Without those features I can just replace Alexa with nothing because we do not use any other features.

Would be great if the article would be updated from time to time. It is a good read but some of the presented problems are already fixed.

I can confirm this from the producer side. The documentation is often neglected. I got fed up with the Word docx (with code examples) we sent out to our customers and replaced it with a hosted Docusaurus markdown documentation. It is a lot

We mostly use Alexa for playing music (Radio & Spotify) and setting timers. We also use the multi-room music feature where Alexa plays the same audio source on a certain group (great for parties). Does Home Assistant also have these fea

You are 100% correct. Heavily depends on where the servers reside. Just a rough estimate for the case that the failures are non related.

I have left WebGl disabled and do not miss anything so far (maybe in the future?). Just not my use case. Network disabled is a straw man argument. If somebody already has made the effort of creating an extension and maintaining it, why not

Most of the Hydrogen that is currently being produced is "gray". Meaning that it is produce with steam reforming from natural gas. This is currently the cheapest and most used method (around 60%). Coal (around 20%) and oil (around

Less protection then? Yes. So when something hits you later on, the system is not trained for it. It's not about throwing infants in a dunghill first thing after birth and let nature take its course. It's about gradual exposure w

The current situation is the result of decades of free trade and reliability. There will likely be a shift if the market forces pull in a different direction. Not today right away but in the timescale of years.

For me (European) this is an incentive to first check if there is an non-us alternative for the product from another country. Quite sad times. I liked the 2000s and 2010s with rather free trade a lot.

One can extract hydrogen from fossil fuels. So if a hydrogen break through is coming, they already have a cheap source for the material. Not really green though...

You are free to enable WebGl in the settings and install a Plugin that allows for blocking/allowing WebGl. The default should be privacy if you install a browser that focuses on privacy.

1 in a million is the probability that all three servers die in one months, without swapping out the broken ones. So at some point in the month all the data is gone. If you replace the failed(or failing) node right away, the failure percen

There are some hacking tools for Fritzboxes out there but Avm themselves are pretty good at supporting their hardware for a long time. The 7490 was released in April 2013 and just received another security update (January 2025). Quite a lo

I just checked. There is no right to a land-line but a general right to being connected. So somebody has to provide you a connection. If nobody does you can message the "Bundesnetzagentur" and they will oblige a provider. https:&

Is that even legal? I always thought a land-line connection is mandatory. I recommend to check the law here :)
