Compressing parameters isn't that overkill I think. In our Plinky synth web editor, we do some basic swizzling [0] to squeeze a 1152 byte array down to 213 url-safe characters so that the patches themselves are shareable with just a li

Might I suggest Paseto ( https://paseto.io/ ) instead of writing it yourself - it solves a lot of the headaches of JWT. Signing and encryption are two different things that require two different sets of keys, so you can'

Vinyl and cassette are the most common right now for physical-exclusive stuff. CD sales are very mixed- you can do well or barely sell at all, even for established names, and the startup costs for a pressing are higher than with tapes. And

What a fantastically bad take supported by no facts whatsoever. I like your graphics work but you should really think before you type this kind of a thing up.

With Cloudflare's Mailchannels integration that came out yesterday, it's now possible to send emails for (practically) zero cost from workers. I rolled out this example of how to set up a SvelteKit based worker that you can use to

Proof of work is not needed, just a pool of time servers that you can make a quorum out of. We're working on exactly this on top of roughtime ( https://roughtime.googlesource.com/roughtime ) for a future version of QR Da

The motivation was to try to get the MT63 encoder into as small of a footprint as possible, trying to minimise the Lambda bootup time and memory usage from API requests on our end, while learning WASI at the same time. It worked well for th

Thanks for the link- exactly the sort of thing that I was looking for in feedback. I'm aware it's conjecture, but do you think this sort of precedence would be useful in airing doubts about the trustworthiness of an Ed25519 signat

A newspaper might not be available; often pictures with a blank piece of paper with the date written are used. QR Date relies on the signature in the QR code, not just the date, which makes it harder to fake within a reasonable amount of ti

Yes, the observer (preferably multiple) is an integral part of the process. The second signing is an interesting idea, though I'm not sure if it would prove more veracity over, say, a newsroom verifying the code.

You can always use the published public key to verify the signature. There's also a way to generate the codes offline using a certificate chain and a fingerprint ( https://github.com/qrdate/qrdate#static-qr-date-v1-

I believe at that point it's up to the lawyers to argue. It's up to persons with people skills to convince other people that something is not fake, using tools like these as assistance, not as clinchers.

Yes, it's a good idea. It has some security and privacy considerations of its own which are outside of my area of expertise, and I believe it could be implemented on top of the existing spec.

Thanks for the feedback, on the front page it was a consideration to keep it UTC to not accidentally dox anyone using it on-stream. I like the idea for having a selectable timezone on the verification page.
