Thank you for this information. And your statement "Public food should be open source". That's something worth discussing as a society. Food is so important... What do you think about Genetic Engineering for Humans. Is that also the future

Well said sir. This is also why these countries have firewalls and rules against watching foreign movies/music. My Iranian friend told me that music is illegal in Iran. As well as movies. He told me he watched Friends in Iran and it made hi

Everyone should rethink their meat consumption. First, if you read nutrition books, you realize that in the long term, it's not healthy. It's much better to eat vegetables. Secondly, you can get all the nutrients and vitamins you need from

I opened up the source code and it was like a walkthrough. I like this a lot. I'll be spending some time on this tomrrow. All the references to Yoda made me dig up this classic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=493ljyoox6o

I would say it depends? Arguably, even if you read books on body training, you won't become even close to Hanma Yujiro. And assuming you have the time and the ressources, you will still be comparable to the many gym lovers in a few years. Y

You are not using the loci method are you? (The memory palace) It takes me 10 minutes to memorize a deck of cards right now. It took a lot of time to assign characters to my cards and considerable time to set up mental journeys to store the

When I left for my friend's for a couple of beers I quickly glanced at his StackOverflow question. It was a copy paste of his facebook post. I thought "Mmm, this is probably getting closed". Turns out I was right :)

totally... it's irrelevant now. The company has really changed and besides can we really say that they were that bad now? Is Microsoft Windows really such a bad product? I personally don't think so.

I feel very comfortable actually, since I'll program in the same language that the OS uses. I'll feel completely at home. The Haskell language uses the operating system to switch threads and send datagrams. And isn't the OS the biggest user

I have to agree with you. It's how programming was taught to me when I was school. First they showed me the logic, then they showed how I could calculate and print a simple bill for a restaurant. At that point I was sold and I keep learning

I'm also fairly interested in Haskell but I think that studying data structures and algorithms extensively will make me a better programmer. Not learning a whole other way to program... That will not work. I am already very comfortable in

Yep, this is the stackoverflow I know. They have practically killed all the meaningful C++ activity on the website by closing duplicate questions. Maybe some easy questions have already been answered but they don't let junior members contri

Is this the programming language that works without a lexer/parser and a grammar? Why aren't there more programming languages written this way? Seems easier to implement.

The thing I notice about people who are frustrated about how difficult it is to code is that they don't give themselves enough time. Learning how to code, like any good craft, takes time and that's something most people cannot understand be

Python is a cool language but performance is performance. This is why C++ and Java will continue their domination. So in the end, assembly language and optimization experts are the king makers?

I agree with everything you've said. C++ with templates is absolutely terrifying to read sometimes. Not to mention these error messages and the bloat, the bloat.

I'll keep using my C++ subset, the one that produces great assembly code and is portable to make the apps/libraries I need. The next big language is Javascript anyway.

I'm surprised no one has said it. Experienced programmers should manage programmers, experienced professors should manage university affairs. Not a freakin MBA! Let's have people learn how to do useful work. Then, the people who have the ex
