It's a lisp, so you can build your own syntax, the messiness of annotatations is only limited by your creativity. (defna add [a :: int b :: int] (+ a b)) https://pastebin.com/5kpTBiz2 You could expand that macro

Nah, do what we do on the web: Polyfill. It wouldn't be perfect and have all the interactive tools, but a API-compatible lib that abstracts over AppKit / UIKit seems doable, then just switch imports when the future arrives.

Really awesome stuff for dealing with verbose frameworks. In the code builder demo, it strikes me that all that code in swift could be replaced with a declarative format: let TestVC = viewController( button( padding: { left:

Hi. I'm the author of the post. I actually agree here. As soon as I realize it's going to be non-trivial for me to trace the issue with the debugger, more and more instead of setting up complex conditional breakpoints I just step

To build apps... the best way by far in my experience has been to simply find an objective app and to build it. What you need to develop as an app developer is an intuition about how to structure your project for it's long term goals,

This is so important. I do eat meat (actually quit a lot right now due to health experiments) and I don't think the vegetarian movement will significantly reduce our meat consumption. While I can't argue that animals should have t

This is cool... accessibility is rather limited though. Appears the only way to freely rotate is with a middle mouse button my laptop doesn't have.

Just curious, since their website pretty clearly points out "sane scripting" as a high point, what makes it bad for scripting from your perspective?

I think the bigger problem here is the load it takes to change from stateless to stateful. Let's say a create a stateless subscribe button component, that's part a of a stateless header component. It just accepts a listener that i

The parents of each of these elements have to manually map the state changes, they have to be aware of the internal state of the components, just as I was saying. Check this out: https://github.com/rtfeldman/elm-spa-exa

The static types system is great, however, having used elm: elm unloads much of the work react does onto you. React automatically (with keys) manages state creation for lists and child components, but with elm you have to manage that manual

I've tried to use Elm and The Elm Architecture on a project before, but I gave up. The Elm Architecture makes it very easy to create small type safe components, but it forces parent components to manage the state + structure all childr

In some of my projects I have 2 scopes: A framework scope and a component scope. The framework scope has all the composeable classes and standard forms like lists, shadows, colors, grids, cards etc. Then, when the framework doesn't cov

Uhm.. Having to use BEM is a gotcha. Why don't you write all your applications code in a global scope and just use a BEM-like naming scheme for your functions?

You're treating input/output as the same. We receive speech coming from a source and parse it using a grammar. One could imagine it being a similar process for the perceiving images captured by the retina. For output, when a human
