Yep! Same here. I'm using emojis as icons on my website ( https://remotehunt.com ) and I don't like that my icons look different on different platforms. But I haven't found an icon lib that I like as much as emojis.

GitLab is a member of Remote Hunt and they added their locations themselves, but yes — it was some time ago. I’ll ask them to review at some point maybe. But for companies like GitLab it’s quite hard to keep it updated. So many locations!
