It sounds like you were using Paperspace's remote desktop. I find that if you connect to it with Parsec, none of the issues that you're describing apply.

I agree. Parsec makes it excellent. I really like the Paperspace vm combo there. Super easy to setup and I've noticed no issues. It's more expensive than Nvidia's service (to which I also subscribe), but you can play whatever

I was also a running start student. I think that it was not a good choice for me. I was not well prepared for the responsibilities of managing my time, and had no desire to think long term. I doubt I'm alone, or even unusual. I know I

Cool! I left my homerolled vim config for spacemacs a little over a year ago. I'm glad to see a similar project for the vim community. It looks really nice. I'll probably never leave emacs now since I've come to love lisp, bu

Some of the biggest web services are written with Python. There are tradeoffs, just like everything else. I happen to work for a company with a gigantic python codebase. It would be a hell of a lot easier to refactor our systems if we were

This. Their hardware is great, from my point of view. But the bios or hardware backdoor fiasco is unforgivable.

> There’s a strong libertarian ethos among tech folks... This does not ring true in my experience with "tech folks" in recent times. It may have been true at one time, but I think libertarianism in tech has fallen out of vogue.

Yeah, in my city, people my age (late 20s, early 30s) aren't moving to the suburbs because they want to, but because they're forced to by the insanely high cost of living in the urban area compared to the wages offered here. From

I'd argue that evil is the exception to this. It's vim emulation is astoundingly good.

Maybe not dishonest in the sense that they're purposefully trying to mislead viewers, but it's negligent in the least.

Traveling the weird routes that waze sends me on is way more stressful to me than sitting in traffic. Especially now that I have an electric car. So I deleted Waze pretty quickly to just go with the mainstream apps. That being said, I'

Agreed. This is a clever little hack that I never would have thought of. But I usually have a "temp" or "scratch" buffer running for this kind of thing anyways. It is cool that apple has the ability to script like this t

I really enjoyed that talk. Thanks for sharing. I usually cringe at design patterns, but hearing the intention behind the idea of design patterns resonated with me. Especially his final point about balancing abstraction.

Agreed. I didn't finish the whole paper, but from what I read it sounded like the author didn't really understand what code generation was actually doing.

Google Inbox web app is laggy af in Chrome for me, honestly. I use it for work. I'm on Firefox Nightly and it's super fast everywhere except for the Google Web Apps (which aren't butter smooth on any browser, even Chrome).

Agreed. I've been on the side of coming into roles where people were reluctant to let go at first and feeling reluctant to let go of responsibilities. It feels weird. The lego analogy seems to fit really well from my experience.

Isn't there a System 76 guy building the Rust based OS (redox, if I recall correctly)? Personally, that seems more interesting to me. With this, why not just stick with existing distros?
