The comments on the actual diff https://github.com/wordpress/wordpress/pull/18/files are actually reasonably intelligent, and amusing

Exactly - this number being stated as an "exact" one is very suspicious. "Barely ever downloaded" would give it a lot more legitimacy, but I guess only Apple could give us the real number (which I really doubt they would)

I've been tempted to do things like this alias, but it's a slippery slope; I don't want to train my muscle memory to type the wrong thing, and if it's silently accepted that's what is likely to happen. This way, the command gets run but you

iPhoto is a single-window application - only one window is ever used. Such applications usually (and should) quit on closing the main window. Immediate examples I can think of are System Preferences, calculator, but there are many more exam

I completely endorse this, and wish I could hit the "up" arrow hundreds of times over. It's also refreshing to see a comment like this that isn't immediately shot down. It's hard to overstate the importance of actually having things written

Given the general confusion in the post over what the GPL actually means, and what they thinks it means, It's not a given that the author doesn't just think that "Being Sold == Commercial Licence"

Like other recent complaints about people abusing licences, this doesn't seem so obvious: > If you fork Mayan EDMS into a closed or private respository, stop and think about what you are doing because you going about it the wrong way. W

I have to say thanks for writing this; I am starting to try and pick up Clojure at the moment, and it's always nice to see lots of different and interesting examples (see: recent 'Caves of Clojure' series that was on here)

Is it me, or does this ridiculous metaphor just make it much, much harder to understand? I'm pretty aware of what's going on with the whole Twitter thing at the moment, and I found this really impenetrable.

On the other hand, I've actually taken projects with unmerged pull requests, and pulled them into my own repo to use the new functionality/bug fixes. So they aren't necessarily just sitting there uselessly.

IANAL, but reading this: - Redistributions of Source Code must retain.... Doesn't seem to me to exclude selling the source code without displaying the information up front, as long as the copyright notice is still included with the source c

Interesting - I hadn't considered that the BSD licence doesn't seem to require the copyright notice to be displayed before downloading - so it could display the copyright notice in the purchased program, and be compliant? This case doesn'

I've been interested in D for a while, for these reasons and more - it's features look nice, but it never seems to have gotten much popularity/mindshare. Could you hazard a guess why?

Thanks a lot for this; after reading the BBC coverage, it sounded like a complete overreaction. Regardless of whether or not this action was justified, the extended tweet lists certainly put it a little more into perspective.

Yes, I am ridiculously excited about this, especially the ability to create single-item NSArray's without a tonne of messy typing - this is probably the largest cleaning effect it will have. Any idea how long it has historically taken apple
