That's a good insight. Being as fickle, I may indeed be back to Unity at some point :)

Yup, this thread is interesting. An Ubuntu release, and I haven't read many complaints about Unity thus far down the page. They lost me to Mint in their last couple of releases.

Wait, I've done it the other way around. I have a repo directory, and I created symlinks in ~/ pointing to the dotfiles in the repo. I have a simple install script to symlink the files. Would you suggest having the physical files in ~/ and

Good point. I listened to several episodes of This Developer's Life before realising there were two presenters involved. Maybe I'm just slow :P

If you purchase an old domain, wouldn't Google notice the change of IP address and whois information? I'm only speculating that buying an expired domain, for example, would be flagged.

Actually, I think you're right, I probably was piping to less at the time (which tmux makes me do more of than usual).

Does anyone have trouble with tmux displaying colours? I tried a custom git log query that coloured the custom ordered responses. Rather than showing the text in colour, there were inline codes being displayed.

I'm trying to get my head around it. What type of simple use cases might such a small computer help with?

I certainly felt some difficulty first in setting Duck Duck Go as my default search engine. Google trains you repeatedly, implicitly, over the years on how to optimise your query for Google. I often still find myself adding "!g" to my DDG q

I was having some weird problems two, with some commands not even being recorded. As people on the blog commented, I've followed and only include `history -a`. Running `history -n` would screw up the workflow of pressing the up cursor to sc

You're getting down-voted for the first bit I'm assuming :) Actually, the 'nipple' plus the centre scroll button works quite well. Just hold down that button, and apply pressure to scroll.

I'll stick with Slim for now because, simply, it's established and Josh there has made it into a quite solid platform. But keep at it, well done.

Yes. I have had to completely disable the trackpad on my Lenovo X220, and I use its 'nipple' mouse button instead.

Really cool, well done. For others who have not seen commandlinefu.com, it's a collection of interesting commandline commands. I like the Twitter feeds on their site http://www.commandlinefu.com/ . For example, you can subscribe to the fe

Very weird. What I consider to be a "public key" is one of those long strings of characters in my `.pub` files. What they asked me to verify turns out to be a fingerprint (from what I understand elsewhere in HN comments). I'll be honest - I

Did you manage to get KeepassX to integrate with your browser to auto-fill forms? I've switched to LasPass recently, but I'm still getting used to its browser-based management of passwords.

On a tangent: FastSpring rocks. I've ditched 2Checkout.com in favour of them. Their email support replies in minutes (it seems including during off-hours). They abstract away subscription calculations (when will that member expire??) that I

Do people basically hotlink the Bootstrap CSS, for example? I just presumed most fork it into their own project (or, say as a submodule) and then host it on their own server.

If you have written a JavaScript library and it's hosted on GitHub, I wonder if you can somehow include the `master` branch in your `gh-pages` branch as a submodule. Do you get me? If the core repo is clean JS, but where your demo site migh

My main objective with Sublime is to master the keyboard shortcuts. Stuff like (on the PC) Ctrl+D to select the current word, and repeat for next occurrences. This starts up a multiple-selection that you can just type and all selected occur
