GPU programming isn't really that bad. I am a bit skeptical this is the way to solve it. The issue is that details do matter when you're writing stuff on the GPU. How much shared memory are you using? How is it scheduled? Is it be

It is depressing but equally this presents even more opportunities for people that don't take shortcuts. I use Claude/Gemini day to day and outside of the most average and boring stuff they're not very capable. I'm glad

You're using it wrong, you're using the wrong version etc etc insert all the excuses how it's never the tool but the users fault.

I've been working on an app that records RAW video on Android devices [1]. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motioncam....

Yes I find this to be it's best use case. Unfortunately for anything I actually need help with the results are often terrible.

There are plenty of reasons to stay with AWS, RDS being one. Are there viable alternatives?

These always look like they're in show motion. Is that too extend the length of the generated video?

ChatGPT 4 was released 2 years ago. Personally I don't think things have moved on significantly since then.

I'd be pretty surprised if any other voice assistant would do better in this instance. I can't speak for how useful it is outside of English but I am fairly confident whatever the manufacturer comes up with would be much worse. Re

I disagree with that. I really like the Android infotainment system because 1) voice control actually works and 2) built in Google maps is all I want in a car and they work very well. As far as I can tell the issues they have had is with th

I have the same car and the thing I like most about it is that it doesn't have a giant screen and looks more like a traditional car. I can't say I've had the same issues (or any issues besides the slow infotainment system). I

I've been caught by this. Even Claude/ChatGPT will suggest it as an optimisation. Every time I've measured a performance drop doing this. Sometimes significant.

No one will release the dataset because we all know it is gathered through dodgy means.

I think this is true as well. Paying more does not mean higher quality. There are a few brands which seem to release quality products consistently (Apple etc) that paying more is justified but for many others it is just not worth it.

It's becoming difficult to trust anything on the internet. It's quite sad.

I wouldn't take that seriously. Half the comments here are suspicious IMO. OpenAI is a pretty shady company.

No one writes a "complete program" these days. Things just keep evolving forever. I spent way too much time I care to admit dealing with dependencies of libraries which change seemingly on a daily basis these days. These predictio

Unified memory is what makes using the GPU viable in my use case (mobile). The copy operation is almost always the slowest part. This is especially true for real time work.

I somehow doubt it's (lack of) technology that's stopping you from creating your ideas.

Do you have children? They're targeted with ads everywhere . You can be a responsible parent but these things cause unnecessary stress. Quite frankly if the government wants to ban all advertising I would be thrilled.

I think this is very much US centric. The upside is much higher salaries. Clearly people need to plan for when it ends though. The industry is more stable in Europe and Australia. You don't get paid as much though.

I moved to Europe after driving in Australia where automatic is the norm. Most people in Europe should not be driving a manual. Almost daily I'll see and hear people make basic mistakes when driving. It's baffling why they stick w

How can it be cheaper than not having a transmission at all in an EV?

It makes me wonder if people that make these claims have an actual job. Because if they did then I doubt anyone could make that claim with a straight face.

What do you mean? When I buy an ICE car I am not buying it with the expectation that the engine and transmission will die imminently. Why would you assume 70% capacity for an EV?

Most EVs don't have four motors on each wheel. They'll have one or two.
