I think this is really silly. How is living uncomfortably in a car make you relentlessly resourceful? It seems entirely counter productive. You won't get good rest and even have a decent work environment. Half the fun of creating a start-up

My guess is that it's sluggish because it uses HTML/Webview for the UI (according to the article at least). I am yet to find any app that feels like a native app which uses any of the javascript/HTML5 platforms.

Chances are those people are high achievers outside of University as well. If you are really capable and have created cool stuff then I doubt it will matter much.

Considering all signs point to "we fund people not ideas", I'm surprised by the reaction as well.

Unfortunately most of us aren't able to buy the million devices out there to test with. More annoyingly we usually only find out about a device not working when someone writes a 1 star review such as "dont work HTC <xyz> cm7". I've

Agreed. I would be very very careful about using this. The headaches it could cause far outweigh the (arguable) benefits.

I'm running it on my Android phone now. It works pretty well. I wish it uses Facebook/Google/etc. for user accounts though. The last thing I want to have to do is have another user/password. Also, what is the difference between this and Not

Both myself and my co-founder left well paying (not as well as yours though! :)) jobs to create our startup. It was definitely worth it and we plan on doing this as long as possible. I love programming and always have. I realised I needed t

My first job out of university was for a failed start up. When I joined it was fantastic. There were only a handful employees and the company was making good profit. Then somebody decided to expand as quickly as possible. They hired a new C

I don't think its such a bad idea but you're effectively asking people to make an effort view ads. If you're after interactive ads then it might be more interesting to use something like Kinect to provide interactive advertising at shops. F

Sounds like you guys have it sorted out. I bring up Android mostly because we found lots of customers asking for specialized hardware (for military, police and fire department contracts). They were really picky about that because the guys u

It is the leader in sales but I'm not sure that will matter in this case. This is domain specific so the choice of tablet is determined by the availability of the software. Just my thoughts, great idea though :)

Nice! That looks quite interesting. Is there any particular reason why the iPad was targeted first? I wonder if Android would have been a better choice because some manufacturers offer rugged tablets these days which seem like a better fit

That's hilarious. We just bought the cheapest stuff with the best hardware we could find. At the end of the day it gets the job done and we saved a bunch of money that we can use to keep going longer.

Interesting read. Can I just ask, why are you guys giving up so easily? It seems like you only launched Whim 3 months ago. Granted it might not have been successful as you anticipated but you shouldn't shut it down. I've released a few apps
