There seems to be this mistaken idea that smartphones are like small PCs that can make phone calls. But they're really far more like gaming consoles. They're pretty much locked down.

Once you take this path, you can make up anything that you like. There's no way to test it. Except, I suppose, based on how you feel about it, how well societies work whose members believe it, and so on.

You mean "not strictly technical", right? As Mirimir, I have voiced opinions about such topics. I'm not dogmatic, but neither do I avoid dark humor, so I suspect that I've managed to piss off some on every "side&quo

Yes, that is indeed a limitation. Nobody IRL will ever know that I'm Mirimir. Also, I can't attend physical events as Mirimir, or do anything with audio/video. I suppose that you could use other personas for totally non-contr

Well, it depends on what you blog about. If, say, you blog about some social/economic/political position that is (or becomes) unpopular/unacceptable, your career may be toast. Such as, for example, happened for James Damore.

Back in the day, I used to PGP sign Usenet messages. I used a news reader where I could specify message ID. So I signed text that included the date and message ID.

OK, maybe Google is easily fooled, or maybe it cuts rights holders lots of slack, or whatever. But why would anyone need to search for pirated stuff using Google? For media I just use TPB, and libgen for books. And I presume that streaming

No, I've copied Tor :) And re dynamic circuits, I did a crude hack: https://github.com/mirimir/vpnchains I only use Tor via nested VPN chains. The VPNs mainly provide backup anonymity, in case Tor circuits are com

I'm not at all familiar with Chinese VPN services. But it's my impression that the Chinese authorities mostly care about domestic VPN use. Citizens are limited to approved VPNs, which are obviously backdoored. More generally, as l

Just use ~3 VPNs in a nested chain. So an adversary would need data from all three. Better yet, have the middle one be in a jurisdiction that doesn't cooperate with your adversary's.

There's an analogous horizontal phenomenon. Just as the deep oceans are gravitational sinks, the poles are thermal sinks. Cold traps. And so concentrations of persistent atmospheric pollutants are substantially higher there. So it goes
