Yeah. it's not new. basically every programming language that respects itself has it in the form of: - with blah do x - using blah do x - try(blah) { do x } - File.open(blah, 'w') {|f| f.write(x) } - there are

working on beekeeper: https://github.com/mirceal/beekeeper Still very early (will do a proper showHN once it has decent quality and I polish some of the rough edges) but would love some feedback on the idea

to me this sounds like complaining about evolution (in the biological terms). things are evolving, some experiments are failing, better ways of doing things are emerging. is it stressful? sure. can one at sometimes feel overwhelmed? absolut

ruby, java, perl :S , python, roll-your-own have done it all. :) yes, the learning curve can be pretty steep, but one thing that always helps is that the probability that there is somebody out there that did it already is very high. you jus

hah. I believe you either don't understand Brazil (the build system) or you had to deal with inexperienced people that don't get it. IMHO the internal Amazon tooling is THE reason Amazon is able to build things so fast and to iter

btw, I don't buy into the "Devops" hype. Devops, like Agile should die. When you're building something if operations is something you push to later stages and you bring in a "devops" person you've already

would argue that it's not just the userland. you only have the functionality you need and your bits. for example an http server would have the http stack + your app. there is no userland, there are no drivers, just your app as the only

that's pretty awesome. I am still surprised how much the experience of using cloudwatch logs sucks. On so many levels: from installing the cloudwatch log agent on a box, limits on pushing logs, forcing you to pass in the sequenceToken

unikernel basically means that you pack your application and only the lower level bits and pieces that you need to get it working. you no longer have an OS in the traditional sense.

technical debt is actually worst than financial debt. imagine an interest rate of x%. now imagine that one day the bank comes in and says: now your interest rate is going to be 20x. you don't get a say in it and you cannot refinance. a
