Yes i agree Google-X plans are ambitious. It's really hard to tell how unrealistic are they, but they did achieve some pretty brilliant results(self driving car driving 700K miles, Google loon progress[1]), And as for price, Google do s

I agree with your point, but looking at the projects, there's a clear difference between the companies: most of MS's projects(maybe except hololens) have large business value risk, on top of the technical risk. On the other hand,

Microsoft research vs Google is an interesting case, especially considering that Google's glucose sensing contact lens project originaly started at microsot research, but Novartis is licensing them from Google.

Maybe the idea is much higher profit margins than labcorp + potential for larger demand(painless blood tests, fast results, and general trends in medicine) + potential overseas ,since it's basically a tech company, not a services compan

Amazon has started shifting some demand to it's sorting centers and from there to the USPS - to individual post offices. Maybe this explains the fixed number of UPS drivers. The nice thing in this for Amazon , is that this really short

I don't know him by any means, But i don't think he has that much influence on the matter. He has a business to run, with certain incentives built in, and that probably requires choosing certain choices, whether he feels they are

I'm not from the field, but is it that hard, for a reasonably well funded organization, to build a safe lab ?

Yes biology is complicated. But we are starting to understand it reasonably well, and more importantly ,we're starting to design it even without understanding. For example, there's a company that produces microbes that create certa

There's really one clear goal behind this: building Ive's image as a design genius, responsible for the major decisions behind Apple's products, in the same way Jobs's image was created. Why ? because it creates a unique

Certain segment of car owners pays lots of money for comfort, great design and great branding. Apple is certainly strong in those areas. And who knows ,if it's not good enough in the rest that's needed, it can always cooperate.

It's really hard to build a case against disruption theory, using a single product, especially when the competition has only been "good enough" just since the last year or so, with kitkat and apps using its design language,

It's just the reviews on such low cost phones runing FFoS are pretty bad, and once you climb to $65 or $100 , windows phone and android offer much better alternatives.

Really ? Their OS really shines in low cost devices aimed at the developing world(it's supposed to be much better and cheaper than whatever android can achieve). I would imagine a $100 is a substantial barrier for developers there.

You misunderstand the motivation behind self-driving cars. It's not ads and not data. Google has enough of that. It's just that a huge bunch of money goes to whoever who controls those.
