I'm not saying I disagree, but I think there is a fundamental difference between monetizing functionality in a piece of software, and monetizing user-generated content.

To confirm for yourself: 1. Go to this post (the result of a Google search for Posterous and Amazon) - http://adeb.posterous.com/ubuntu-one-music-store-vs-amazon 2. Fire up a browser extension/add-on to monitor HTTP requests like HTTP Fox

Great design and a cool idea, but I really think that 101 things is way too many. I had the patience to put in about 5. I doubt that very many people will be able to think up 101 things--of course maybe I just have fewer goals in life tha

What about business structure options? I may be wrong, but I've always thought of Japan as being a non-ideal start-up location as far as the onerous business regulatory environment and the high rate of corporate taxation. Is any progress

"This is an easy business to start; it’s a really hard business to scale." It will be interesting to see how Gilt, Ruelala, ideeli, etc. continue to address this. They all seem like they've been frantically trying to diversify (travel bein

Glad to see they've finally updated the merit badge pamphlets--maybe I'm getting up there, but I seem to remember that in the late nineties when I was pretty active, most of the content seemed to be 10-15 years out of date. I never got this

Also interesting are the implications for Softbank (the exclusive carrier for the iPhone in Japan). They'll definitely keep taking market share away from NTT Docomo as they continue to offer innovative devices and compelling pricing.

Yes affiliate marketing is legit. Nearly every major online merchant has an affiliate program (Amazon, eBay, Zappos, Overtstock, Apple, Best Buy, etc). There are numerous companies that utilize affiliate marketing to monetize their conten

Kudos to Google on this. They've really been pushing QR and that's exactly the kind of support needed for it to reach critical mass. Reading QR codes is one of the few ways my Droid can school the iPhone... http://code.google.com/p/zxing

It totally depends on what industry/vertical you are trying to take on. For web apps, yes an MBA is not vital since you can bootstrap w/out funding (as the author alluded to). However, I'd argue that the connections you get with an MBA ca
