First we got VMware because systems were getting larger than the load we could push onto them. Then we got Hyper-V because it was free and VMWare was getting needy and expensive. Then we moved to the cloud because it was "cheaper"

Lots of things in here which kill me a little: 1. You don't get a voltage spike when you disconnect an inductor. The field collapses and induces a current. If you measure it across a high impedance then it looks like a voltage spike. I

I have the same problem. After much thinking, and figuring out I'm just lazy, I just don't bother with it. It turns out not to be particularly crippling.

No and anything like that is turned off and it's iOS so I trust that they don't do anything behind my back like that. I also have no social media on my phone, everything is locked down and all the privacy options are enabled.

You also get billed for incomplete multi-part uploads! Those can build up quickly if you're using pre-shared keys.

Watch out for Grafana Cloud and that. All it takes is one dumbass to not understand cardinality of labels and histograms and you have problems. Also on a Kubernetes cluster we hit 1.8 million series out of the box on prometheus so you can i

Urgh it's the worst for cycling I find. I just use the phone. The watch is in the wrong place to see it, the controls aren't tactile and the thing distracts you. All recipes for trouble.

I'll pass on that. I've got a Garmin handheld and OrganicMaps on my phone which are both fine for any remote activities I do. I don't need to track activities.

I live in London. You have to wear it on the right hand side for TFL gates and contort yourself to use them. Also it's not quite as reliable as the iPhone. It was fine for ordering beer.

They’ve run out of useful and interesting stuff to say so they just flatter themselves with amazing progress which is incremental at best.

Meh. Stopped wearing my S9 in May. Not sure why I bought it. Think AW wore off here finally. It’s a nice toy but useless for me (even cycling / hiking etc). I take an F91W when I go hiking as it doesn’t need charging.

The first live k8s cluster upgrade anyone has to do is usually when they think "what the fuck did I get myself in to?" It's only good for very large scale stuff. And then a lot of the time that is usually well over provisione

100% agree with the muji ones. I buy the planner every year. I do most of my organisation and most of my thinking work on a hoard of a two foot thick slab of muji squared paper and enough gel pen refills to last 20 years.

I asked it a question and it answered authoritatively. > The impedance of a 22 μH capacitor at 400 THz is approximately 1.80 × 10^-24 Ω. The correct answer should have been “what the hell are you talking about dumbass?”. Capacitors are n

You can buy a shitty clone PLC off aliexpress if you want to do that. They are similarly priced to the arduino and the hardware interface is several orders of magnitude more robust.

As someone who has been doing "software" for about 30 years now, I completely agree with this. The only people I know who are good at what they do, do it because they use the hatred and disgust of the state of things as fuel for t
