I vaguely remember standing on a rubber mat being standard practice for this sort of tool.

Not sure why threads is in quotes here. I believe that’s just what they’re called.

I thought there was some idea that you wanted core os/app data near the center since you would always be using that.

I was immediately trying to figure out if it somehow had to do with a stop watch being used in meatspace.

The only thing I could imagine that would exonerate the operators of the drone would be if it turned out this was an unforseeable equipment failure (eg an uncommanded climb into controlled airspace), and they weren’t already being excessive

Yeah but it’s happening in a computer! Definitely feels like a The Matrix reference. Plus the whole thing is doing tons of matrix-based math.

I'm assuming this is a reference to the dojo scene in The Matrix.

Only if you’re putting your stuff in the cloud. There’s a big difference between my files on my computer and my files on someone else’s computer. Or at least there should be, IMO.

I don’t understand what you are criticizing. These dolls are modeled after real people, some of whom are scientists. Are you saying these people don’t deserve to be called scientists?

Is it wrong for Mattel to do this? Wouldn’t most companies do a press push when they release a new product? I don’t see how this is any different than an article about the latest Apple product.

What part of the article is giving Mattel undo credit? It seems mainly to be a reporting of facts.

Was there ever a doubt about this? After all, if you don’t have a fairly standard human immune system the vaccine isn’t going to do anything at all for you.

This is great, just shared it with my partner. Definitely eye opening to the danger. I wonder if there'd be some value in an automated throwable PFD launcher as an early response -- launch a pfd out over the top of the probable victim,

Perhaps this is obvious but the answer is: cost. Developers are expensive. Delivering a viable poc cheaper, sooner, even if you end up having to redo it all anyway, can be an excellent trade off.

Depends on the level of observation. This is pretty detailed, we’re looking at pheromones and what not. I’d think the equivalent for humans would be looking closely at the communication between them, through the day. I think that would make

True, I was just trying to explain this to my partner who didn’t want to throw out still functional CFLs. In this case the value of the estimated remaining life of the CFL + cost of new LED is less than the expected power savings of the LED
