There's very few other fields out there that provide the benefits that tech does, with the work-life balance. What are the alternatives?

Because the browser is slowly becoming the OS anyway, and the reason why is that it’s way easier to distribute an application via the browser than natively. No app stores, no downloads, no updates, no installers, and mostly consistent acros

Give sales a try. I despised sales before I moved into a Sales Engineer role. Once I saw what sales really was, and how good sales people are not slimy, I now love it.

All of Andrej Karpathy's stuff on YouTube is absolutely top tier. He's a rare example of a brilliant contributor in his field who is an equally brilliant educator. Start with his short intro to LLMs, only 1 hour long but is dense

Outsider speculation, but I’d guess ROI and compute/infra limitations play a big factor here. LLMs have well understood limitations simply because of their internal machinery - they’re probabilistic, can’t dynamically learn (arguable),

You gotta walk before you can run. Xv6 is basic, but it’s a great intro to operating system fundamentals that can fit in a semester for people who’ve never seen these concepts before.

OP isn't saying the person they were referring to is a world-class figure in everything (or even two things), just that they seemed to be producing better results in the categories OP cared about, which is very achievable.

Apple has never been about moving fast in response to hype. Think about 3G, VR, foldable screens (apparently coming to iPads in a few years). They do things in their own time and somehow it works.

Agree, people need to chill. The thread says they would have been happy if Sam stayed, they just wanted him to choose one or the other which he agreed with. It seems like a very amicable parting of ways when the parties involved were being

I mean kudos, the UX here is so insanely good it feels like magic, but I don’t trust magic. Where’s the data coming from?

Lots of negative comments on this. I, for one, am glad to see work that supports better transport infrastructure while not being insanely ugly like a lot of transport infrastructure is (like the giant concrete birds nests of highways in US

Usually a standardised port number implies a standardised protocol. There’s nothing like that for AI right now.

I’m not dismissing it, I’m just curious about it. For me, if I was having strong negative reactions to things frequently it would impact my wellbeing. I wonder if thats not the case for these folks.

It’s not my place to tell anyone how they should feel about anything, but the number of comments here suggesting people had a strong emotional reaction to this does kinda worry me. How do those of you who feel so strongly about this ad get

People keep saying this, but I don’t see how an LLM is a complement to a social media website. People don’t consume more social media with more LLMs. Whats the link here? Also on the Dwarkesh podcast, Zuck indicated one thing they’re afraid
