I made the opposite choice. I left a 7 figure a year (but 70% travel) job to take a few years off with my kids. I'm under no illusion that my kids will be that much better for it, but I will be. I am consuming this time with just abs

Wow, I'm actually shocked on seeing the low salaries on here. Having been on the hiring side for small projects (using mostly Upwork), I have had a really hard time finding quality for < $50 / hour for pretty basic crud develop

Yes but if you have the intestinal fortitude to check out of those pissing contests you can really create your own life. That is, if you are lucky enough to be at level to start. I did note that many of my peers where COMPLETELY freaked out

Exactly yes. I used to make over a million a year as a big 3 partner in management consulting. I dialed back to half time and am UNBELIEVABLY happy!
