There's an ongoing discussion at [1, 2] which highlights an important difference between GDNative and GDExtension in terms of what the developers expect them to be used for. A lot of people were using GDNative as a way of writing game

A good reason to break "Use near-black and near-white instead of pure black and white" for blacks is if the design will be viewed either on a projector, or with an an OLED screen as both will display pure blacks quite pleasingly.

I guess that shows that they think we're stupid. The NFT bubble has burst and no one cares any more. Maybe 6-12 months ago when they started planning this internally it was a big thing but it just shows how behind they are.

Can anyone explain the "NFT" argument they're putting forward? What in the new license protects them more than existing copyright law, trademark law or OGL 1.0 does not? The OGL does not allow people to use the D&D brandi

When I see a graph like [1] with the y-axis not zeroed I stop reading. Furthermore, the assertion that it "ticked back up" is not really supported by that graph any more than saying "it ticked back up and then it ticked down

I agree. They make a rod for their own back by having implicit conversion rules which, while well defined, are not well understood. "Explicit is better than implicit" and all that.

I think the reason that his article feels strange is that it's not clear the perspective that he's coming from. I'm pretty sure that it's in direct response to some currently ongoing conversations in the Python community

Python is not a GC language, at least not primarily. It's reference-counted with a backup GC for reference cycles.
