Who thought it was a good idea to use dark blue as the colour for land in the map at the top of the article?

"KDE" isn't a Desktop Environment or Window Manager. They're called "Plasma" and "KWin".

Citybound is looking like it could be very good. The developer is very actively engaging his audience too with live-coding streams and constant updates.

Almost certainly a packaging error where Wireshark depends on Qt and Qt includes all modules, including QtSql.

Two separate things: 1) The Qt source code. Available under GPL, LGPL or commercial license 2) Some extra proprietary addons. Only available under the commercial license.

You can give it to your friends since all you have is a license to use the source-code under different conditions. It's the same source either way, just you have a special license. Your friends don't have that license and so pre

I'm not sure it's going to affect it at all. What makes you think it will? All they're doing is spinning off a subsidiary to do what the Qt division is already doing.

The deal was that before Nokia Qt was GPL or commercial but after Nokia bought it they relicensed the open-source offering to LGPL. This obviously reduced the demand for the commercial version but there's still plenty of companies who

Sure, but you're free to use or not use any of these modules. Some core things like QString are harder to get away from but outside of that, it's quite free.

Yes you can. You just need a tarball and a PKGBUILD file. There's one downside in that in the official Arch repos, the sourcecode is just defined as a download link to the tarball but since the OBS builder can't access the interne

I've used it in the past to build software for openSUSE, Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, Mandriva, Arch and more. For example, the owncloud package is built for a whole load (list on the right of [1]) and can provide a download page like [2].

No, but I've seen the BBC do this extensively. They turn CERN in Cern all the time. Perhaps Wired UK are just copying this style. I've never seen the BBC call the BBC the Bbc though...
