I think math is separated into two parts—the scientific and the language—and the scientific part is where I think mathematicians show a lot of variation. The language has to be standard, otherwise it could be ambiguous or even incorrect. Fo

While I appreciate the objective behind the study, it's kind of disappointing that it is even done. "Serious" mathematicians are hopefully like "serious" coders, they read the math and when they happen to meet the p

No, but here is a way to WhatsApp yourself. Create a group with one other member. Delete that member. Now you can send messages (or media) to yourself and only you will receive it. It's useful for storing notes or pictures or whatever.

Reach-ability in graphs is quite an interesting topic in applied sciences. For example, recently I had to figure out (nontrivial) investment proportions in funds and realised two things: 1. You can use a weighted DAG [1] and sum the product

The town where I went to primary school in somewhat rural South Africa had, for quite a few years, a stand/shack smack in the middle of the town and on the side of the main road (if it can be called that). The shack had a big sign: &qu

Another (psuedoscientific) argument [1] in favour of 30 hour weeks: 30 = (7 24)/4 (5/7) On each day, you should have half the day for "resting porposes". Of the remaining half, you should work only half of that. Finally,

This question only worries me in the context of philosophy or in the context of the developed world. My experience, being born on the African continent and with my (known) family having lived on the African continent for 10 generations, tea

Although we have machines that now cut and bind books, the best book binding (and most aesthetic) are done by hand by enthusiasts on, e.g., Reddit. Moreover, such book binders don't feel threatened by machines, I would think, like how

That's interesting. In South Africa, at the moment, they also don't have widely available ink tank printers. The two main ones sold at most shops are Epson and Canon, with Epson having the most aggressive marketing campaign of the

Oh yeah and more more thing: 1% on it's own is exponential, but the key fact is that in logistic growth the exponential factor (or rather compound factor) goes down over time... much like changing the s over time in the above example

Maybe you can answer this question for me: Why does HP not have a good ink tank printer based on the shell of something like the HP OfficeJet 3830? It seems like Canon, Epson and Brother are the only real current options for ink tank /

Indeed! One has got to appreciate how words in the English language are not always (read: never) the best way to describe math. By the way, this reminds of the series 1/n^s and the fact that the sum converges exactly for s > 1, but

One more point to sort this out. Is Laplacian always that modified adjacency matrix in graph theory, or does it mean something else as well?

The logarithmic scale is not a problem. I did not say linear; I said logistic. On a logarithmic scale, an exponential function is linear, making the test easy!

It should say Laplacian in OP's post, not Laplacian Transform (if I am not mistaken). The Laplacian is a matrix of (partial) derivitives and is used for the equational conversion.
