Wow, epicly bad project name there. Maybe take it one step further and call it “Google Search” or “Microsoft Office”?

If you only need PostgreSQL, I find Postico much superior to TablePlus. The GUI is nicer, the support for PostgreSQL features more complete, etc.

For some value of “normal”. 4K (or better) monitors have long since become the choice for most of those who cares about how font rendering looks. After a decade of “retina” screens, I’m ruined, I can’t stand the look of anti-aliased fonts,

Yeah, the new GTK4 UI looks like a clone of Apple’s UIKit with a worse font. Shame that Gnome is following the trend of flat and boring UIs.

So happy they finally made this. Ever since I got my first retina MacBook Pro a decade ago, I’ve wanted a good companion display for it. The LG UltraFine worked, but was never good. Iiyama and the other knock-offs were worse. Basically inst

Window zoom asks the application to “right-size” their window. The application then gets to decide what the “right” size is. For example, a Finder window will size itself so it can display all the contents of the folder it displays (if poss

We’re talking about macOS here. Your complaints about hardware features have little to do with this discussion. Macs still have headphone jacks, too.

A few points: 1. You’re not supposed to quit Finder.app. Unless you customise macOS somehow, the ability to do so is carefully hidden. There’s no menu item to quit it, Cmd-Q does nothing, and even the Force Quit menu has “Relaunch” for Find

Ah, yes, always good with a reminder about the priorities of Mozilla management. They fired the MDN team, most of the Rust and Servo teams, etc., to prioritise funding pie-in-the-sky projects like these.

Yeah, you’d need to use something like *nix `tar` to do the archiving part. I think newer versions of tar already have support for Zstd.

Good luck trying to send a file compressed with Zstd or Brotli to people and have them know what to do with them. I’d certainly have to google to figure out how to open one of those. And I’m an engineer and aware that those formats exist.

Even if we assume that “the billion Euros of cannabis sold there each year” is not a wild overstatement (that’s an unimaginable amount of weed), the Danish GDP is some 300 billion Euros. As for tourism, it’s just one of a long list of touri

Oh and before I forget, Bern has a bunch of OpenData/government IT stuff going on, and Basel is a hub for medical companies (Novartis and friends), and thus has a lot of med-tech companies.

It’s not fixed. MySQL still has a datatype called “utf8” that, in fact, is not utf-8 but a limited subset thereof. PostgreSQL has some sharp edges, sure, but a lot less obvious footguns like these.
