I don't think all code should have to come with a warning label. I'm 17 years old, falling into your teen category, and there is no way I would ever run that code in a production environment - just by looking at it I can tell it's unfit.

Agreed. I love articles that tell you how to build something from scratch, they always give me new ideas.

I don't think the point of this article was to be a copy and paste twitter alternative, it's more to show that it's possible to do it (at least that's what I got out of it). There's also no hashing/salting of user passwords or anything. Eve

I'd also love to know what's defined as 'work'. If it's doing a task explicitly for money, I work under an hour or two each day. But if you also count the time I spend reading, learning new languages/tips/tricks/etc then I work 12+ hours/da

I believe you can buy 14x14" tile/brick slabs made specifically for this. It's definitely worth it, brick oven pizza is delicious.

After logging in I open up twitter and search.twitter to see if anyone has been talking to/about me. Then Gmail, HN. After that I get to work or open up NewsFire (RSS Reader).

One thing people have to realize is that this wasn't so much a Hulu decision as it was a Network decision. The networks want to control where you view the hulu content (at your computer). If you're watching it on TV you may as well be payin

This is a pretty bold claim that TechCrunch has made, they need to do some more fact checking. I don't know if Last.fm can sue, but if the article causes some significant damage (high loss of users) then I believe they have the right to som

First off, send me some cash. If you don't know what to do with it, give it to me (I'm a fellow canadian, eh). Next thing would probably be to spread it around in some high-interest bank accounts and make sure you don't go over the insured

There will probably be some complaints from parents or some being redirected to porn sites, but what do you expect? If parents are so offended they should talk to their child about searching for porn on the internet rather than complaining.
