Sublime is a very cool editor, but since you can't debug in it, I guess it's only useful for web developers.

Gah, I'm tired of these Language Wars. Every week (day?) we see posts on the front page on why language X is the "bestest programming language eva!". There are now a gazillion programming languages, and new ones popping up every once in a w

I'm not gonna argue that repeating something is going to aid memorization, but in my experience, the best way to learn a programming language is to read a book and then actually use it. If you forget things you can always look them up, but

3 full reads of a book? That's highly inefficient, and it probably becomes very boring (at least for me -- but that might be my ADHD).

I'm a student that uses an iPad with ebooks exclusively, and I much prefer the experience to a physical book. As others have said, you complain about software problems, and not inherent problems in the hardware device. In fact, GoodReader l

I read some scanned PDF files (over 150MB) and they work fine in GoodReader on my iPad 2. I'm sure that graphics heavy vector PDF files would work even faster.

You know that old joke? A patient says to the doctor, "it hurts when I do this", and the doctor replies: "so don't do that". Your 6" Kindle was not meant for reading PDF books, so don't complain when you're using it not what it was made fo

I'd leave your 6" Kindle for light reading, and a decent 9.7"+ tablet for technical reading.

It is, I read quite a lot of technical books. In fact, there is no better alternative. Just use a decent PDF reader such as GoodReader. It lets you ignore the margins so that you get the best experience.

I'm currently in my 2nd year, and from what I gather most of the people aren't enjoying it so far. The first year was mostly pure math (Mathematical Analysis I & II, Linear Algebra I & II, Discrete Math, Intro to Probability) + a fe

If we're on the subject of anti-patterns, should GOTO really never be used, in any situation? I remember writing some code in C a few years ago and I needed a place in a function where cleanup is performed, and in case there were errors cau

What's the definition of a good programmer anyway? It seems rather vague to me. Someone who writes clean, readable code? Someone who writes efficient and elegant algorithms? Which is it?

Even if something was first published in 1969, some of us are seeing it for the first time. Anyhow, no one was claiming that this was a "new development".
