I believe the headline to be inaccurate, and the real problem is that “A. I. is making sure you pay for dings that don’t exist”. Or IOW, AI is making shit up again, and you’re going to pay for it as part of the agreement that you didn’t rea

Manual tranny, why didn't you say so? :-) Yeah, I guess you would notice the difference. But I think you've hit on the difference, as I vastly simplified what is going on. Not that I expected you to read the link I gave, but it do

Am I sure? No, but I have been told this numerous times by actual diesel mechanics, and otherwise why was it necessary for Jacobs to invent the compression brake? Your car also has rolling resistance and aerodynamic drag to contend with. Mi

Engine braking doesn’t work on diesels, that’s why they have “Jake brakes”, that loud braaaaaaaaap you hear when they go downhill (and why you see signs at the edge of town saying “compression brake use illegal”). I highly doubt a diesel

Some models had a small LED bar that you could check the battery status with, without opening the lid. On older Mac’s (2009-10?), the LEDs were built into the battery. Very handy to quickly check if your spare has more charge than the one

We have had the opposite experience: over the years, mama rabbits have had multiple litters in our backyard. We have two pit bull terriers, and they would chase the rabbits (never catching them), so mama rabbit knows there are dogs. My only

From TFA: While the exact original recipe is no longer offered – today, the dressing uses Worcestershire, anchovies, Tabasco and lemon along with roasted and raw garlic – foodies still flock to Caesar’s Restaurants to get the original tabl

No one is saying that it doesn’t happen. One-off stories don’t prove anything one way or the other.

I take care of an outdoor cat in the neighborhood, and yes it's possible that a coyote will eat a cat or small dog. I live near a trail which also serves as a wildlife corridor, including coyotes that we regularly see on our dog walk

In reference to the app developer: we are looking at it, we are looking at him, and he better watch out... So they're not even trying to disguise the fact anymore that they're a bunch of goons? And this, coming from a person tha

I don’t have an answer to that, but I grew up with plenty of Americans, some of whom might even have fought in WWII, who wouldn’t buy a VW for the obvious reasons.

I assumed, like President said, that it will be China, not me, who pays the tariffs. “Man on the street” doesn’t know how tariffs work (or at least believes the bullshit), and I’m not surprised. But I’m truly surprised that someone runnin

Profits go down when fewer people are buying your product, too. Which seems to be the case with TSLA for the most part.

Yeah, I was surprised by that. I can read it now (with a try again/cancel/dismiss banner at the top). Anyway, good work on the doc; I found it interesting as a Seattle-area resident.

So you don't have real money on the line? This conversation got boring fast. Come back when you've got an actual short position.

Apparently the time to buy was this morning. But I don't need to confirm anything, do what you like with your money, including watching in amazement at how fast a short position can go bad.

Good luck with that. Net profits down 71% YOY? Stock goes up 10% on the news. You think it's going to go down because Robotaxi sucks? Someone will be along shortly (as they always are) to reuse a cliche about irrationality.

EDIT: I can at least read it now w/o the dialog blocking the view. The doc is getting hammered at the moment, throwing a looped modal dialog. Not sure what the fix is, other than putting it on another host.

I presume in Alaska's case, at least, it's a funding technicality. As you said, the roads are not built to interstate standards (with a few exceptions around Fairbanks and Anchorage, maybe). For example, without prior knowledge, n
