Too many details missing here to make any sort of conclusions. Yeah, of course bugs aren't supposed to make it to production. But they do. Is it easier to roll back than it is to roll forward? Usually it's not. How far along are t

You're conflating "doing brain surgery" and "learning about how the brain works". No one is claiming to be an aerospace engineer after watching one of his videos. Taking an esoteric concept and making it understanda

It feels like this whole wave of "face unlock" is just a dumb side effect of Apple not being able to get the in-display TouchID to work well enough for the iPhone X. Maybe it's slightly better than a fingerprint unlock. Maybe

You're right, but the dialogue should change from "Apple respects your privacy" to "Yeah maybe Apple respects your privacy but they don't respect your freedom". Also they host all their Chinese iCloud data on C

Is side-loading really that common for an Android user? It hardly seems widespread. Certainly not for your average, tech-illiterate consumer.

Happy to see Apple caught in such a difficult situation. They insist on being the sole arbiter of what software a user is allowed to install on their device, so this is their burden to bear. They could at any point give up their walled gard

If AlphaStar is playing at the top of the ladder it probably won't be too hard to figure out that it's AlphaStar. There's only around 15 or so players with MMR above 6000, and they tend to know who they've been matched u

Every piece of DRM'd content will end up like this. Every book, movie, show, album, and game will be dead in a few decades (or sooner) if it relies on some company maintaining it's servers. It's good that there's alterna

Maybe "killer feature" was the wrong way to put it. Matrix has good support for things like bots and bridges, but those bridges are written by people like myself who are mostly just trying to hack something together and make it wo

Yeah sorry :/ There isn't an iMessage API to talk to, so the only way that anyone has found to bridge with iMessage is to have an instance of macOS running, logged in as you, and to send messages through the iMessage app via Apple

Thanks, that's very encouraging to hear and exactly what I would hope for. That also sounds like it would solve my biggest issue with running my own server; if my home internet drops or I spill coffee on it I can't talk to anybody

It very much depends on the kind of bridging you want to do and on the service you want to do it with. My iMessage bridge, for example, is a "double puppeted bridge", meaning the people receiving messages from me via iMessage don&

The not-so-talked-about but killer feature of Matrix is that you can bridge other services into it. I'm currently able to send and receive messages from Hangouts, iMessage, SMS, and Slack all from within Matrix. If I'm working on

Are there any firm plans for what happens to the matrix.org matrix server in the future? I worry that all the friends and family that I've been convincing to register an account on matrix.org are going to one day be asked to migrate th

Love the idea. Couple first impressions from the iOS app though: 1. Most of the icons and images are really low-res. You should include @2x, @3x assets or just have higher res images and let them downscale on older devices. 2. A lot of the

It is interesting that Apple will take such a strong stance on privacy (Apple vs. the FBI, for example), but they simply won't make a stand on censorship. In fact I'd argue that censorship is part of their DNA. They've always

Other than the leaked photos from last year I don't think there's been any new details. But they're clearly working on a headset; those photos are way too detailed and unique to be faked. Any sense of what might be going on?
