A "safe" font that renders Cyrillic characters as a box? Change my system back to ASCII? :-)

On Linux, how could you make standard tools highlight or differentiate potentially misleading characters? I guess the solution would have to be in the terminal emulator? Would a blacklist of Unicode ranges be sufficient?

You're right. I should have said "no sane way to do it". :-)

Yes, and they all do something dfferent. Things like "-e" and treatment of "\c" are not uniform. If a system has printf, and I think all recent Unix-like systems do, then it works at least 98% the same.

The "-n" option was added to UNIX around v6. The "-n" special case opened the floodgates for many more options. And what if I actually wanted to print "-n"? There's no way to do it.

"adds the argv into a buffer (why?)" It's calling "write", which is a system call. Without the buffer, it would call write once for argv, and once for the newline if nflag is not set. Calling a system call twice would result in twice as m

Logically, I think on Sprint and Verizon you'd want a WiFi-enabled phone and a MiFi or other wireless portable hotspot. Verizon is $50/mo for 5 GB on a 2-year contract on the 4G data plan. Sprint is $45/mo for 3 GB, also on a 2-year plan.

From what I can find so far, the best option is T-Mobile. Get a T-Mobile SIM Card[1], then select a Mobile Broadband data plan[2], e.g. 2 GB for $40/mo. [1]: < http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/cell-phone-detail.aspx?c... ; [2]: <

I find it easier to add shell aliases, so e.g. instead of typing 'git add', just type 'add'. This conflicts with normal 'diff', so I add 'di', plus I have 'changed'='git diff' and 'staged'='git diff --cached', so I don't need 'git diff' so

Is the monitor height a rule, or a guide? I spend most of my time in a Linux terminal, where the command I type appears at the bottom of the screen. I figure that diagram assumes you're looking around the top third of the screen, so raise m
