Space is a negligible amount of energy. Absolutely tiny. I’d wager that GPS alone has made space a net energy positive by saving energy with better routing.

It’s pretty common to see arguments that the net lifecycle impact of a hybrid outweighs that of a traditional car, because it has more impact in manufacturing. It’s not true (there is more impact in manufacturing, but the breakeven point is

I don’t think that’s analogous. I suspect there are numerous examples of landfills they don’t hurt the environment, and lots of well studied best practices for how to achieve that in others. The equivalent in software is a sort of spherical

Seems to me that your two points oppose each other. If the cost of repair is too high because of labor costs, that indicates that it would create jobs, not destroy them.

I don’t understand. Your link is talking about the difficulty of using these functions. But here, the functions are already being used. What’s missing is implementations of them. They chose to implement these functions without the security

DC here. Any time I’m distressed about the cost of living, I just look at the Bay Area. As far as I can tell, housing is at least 3-4x more expensive. Even on a senior engineer’s pay, your choices come down to something tiny or something th

Have you looked at the Mueller Report? There’s no doubt Russia interfered. If there was no conspiracy with the Trump campaign, it’s only because the campaign was too incompetent to make it happen.

This is a wonderfully condescending response but it answers nothing. The question was, why can’t google do it differently? This doesn’t answer the question. We can plainly see this from the fact that other companies, operating under the sam
