What casual sniffing? It's a pipe. If you can sniff that, you can sniff all the traffic because the very first message is the key in plaintext.

It's a bit odd that you have to query a filesystem-specific value to get simple memory usage stats.

Is there a valid reason to use any encryption at all if you generally can't sniff the traffic unless you can also sniff the key, and if the key is arbitrary and not verified against anything?

No, I just find the inconsistent syntax annoying, but it turns out most things have alternative Latex-style spellings. I just went by their examples.

Selection pressure in general. It's not market forces that decide military viability of one empire over another but it's not biological evolution either.

Defensive checks are good and it's the compiler's job to optimize them away. A simple comment can tell future readers that it's not actually expected to be possible.

So there's \in, \subseteq and probably many others that are written just like in Latex. Notably \cap and \cup were also copied from Latex, which describe the shape of the symbol instead of its meaning. But not \to, \mapsto, \Vee and \W

Interesting hypothesis. What makes it somewhat implausible is the fact that he got lower-case j's. Also, echo '{"foo":"bar"}' | jq -r '.foo' | xxd -p gives me 6261720a (i.e. bar

Yes, but piping output containing newlines into wl-copy does not result in j's in the clipboard.

I think you could simulate something that passes a sniff test. A writer would probably spot implausibilities in the simulation if they paid attention, but then we're back to square one, because you can spot that something was written
