In practice I think the problem is linear, in that the required precision is proportional to log maxValue, that would be enough for a certain answer. It's just that a proof of this is considerably harder, since you can't just assu

There was a period in the last decade when most high-end TVs had 3D functionality. It required extra glasses, but it just felt so cool. I had a couple guests over a couple fun evenings, but just like other cool feeling pieces of tech - like

This has been the case for decades, but it can't be this way forever -- even Cobol apps get rewritten sometimes. I've been a lifelong Windows user, but I honestly can't see myself installing Win 11, even for my parents.

OSS fanboys have been hailing the coming of Linux on personal computers for years, but it just looks like Windows 11 might be the thing that makes it real, forcing it finally to mature. This is not Vista times, where you can easily get away

I spent this weekend removing Elasticsearch usage in our project. Just earlier I saw that our API wasn't responding, and was wondering how the hell someone with log4j got to us. Turns our AWS West 2 was down. If it weren't for the

A bit tangential, but I've always hated how opaque AWS makes the process of picking instance types, since they hide the specs and prices behind layers of complexity, mostly to make it easy for developers to waste the company's bud

The success of Squid Game I think is mostly that it somehow allowed western audiences to put on it the anticapitalist sentiment that is rightfully in the air. It often happens that there's some work that matches common sentiment well e

Actually, with the prelevance of polydactyly (about 1 in 1000 people have 6 or more fingers), and less accidents happening, most people might have a bellow average number of fingers in the future.

I'm honestly not sure if you're sarcastic. These are all basic human rights in most developed countries, and even in many non-developed ones. At least in theory, regulations are designed primary for the people and not for better b

That advice could work in European cities, but NYC station names are often just the street number, and there might be multiple one with the same name (like 96th Street), but that are 1-2 km from each other.
