I've been using Org-mode to make notes on math and computing. The best part is how easy it is to embed LaTeX math equations. I can simply do this: * Heading Euler's identity: \(e^{i\pi} + 1 = 0\) Then <C-c><C-e&

SmartGit - It's cross-platform and written in Java. Unlike most Java GUIs, this one looks professional, well thought out and has been quite stable as a daily driver. There is a commercial license, but the free version is quite sufficie

I started doing this too, but use Antimicro ( https://github.com/AntiMicro/antimicro ) instead of Qjoypad, since I find it to be more configurable. I don't use it as a replacement for a mouse but a keyboard instead.

I always wonder how Opera Unite (in 12.x) versions would have fared had it gained traction. The sender had absolute control over what files were shared and how long they could be without needing to rely on a 3rd party to host content or set

Gnome does indeed look better out of the box, but I am not in favour of installing extensions for customization. This is something that KDE shines at, with loads of options to tweak appearance and behaviour. XFCE and other tiling managers,

A fellow Arch user here. Although I would not classify it as a portability problem, I have mixed feelings about Desktop on Linux. I use KDE Plasma myself and there is not shortage of messages and bug reports on the headaches GTK poses due t

True. For fans of Opera 12.x, Vivaldi is the reborn Opera. Though resource heavy and lacking a few features compared to the original Opera, Vivaldi is now stable enough to be my daily driver.

Surprised at the amount of love for Arch (incl derivatives) on this thread. Let me add my vote to it as well. I converted to Arch more than a year ago from Ubuntu for the same reason as many others here - the need for PPAs to get up to date

To answer your question, I'm a user of KDE since its 3.x days. KDE 4 was as bad as they say it was - buggy, terrible theming and impaired customizability. The stability did improve in its later versions though. I switched to Plasma 5 a

Try giving VimFx a go. It's a Firefox port of Vimium. Has less features than Vimperator but doesn't alter the browser UI as much. It's also compatible with multiprocess Firefox.
