Once again, Stripe innovates in the dev docs space. This is a masterclass on what excellent documentation should look like.

This is definitely a problem with any circuit that is complex enough. It was nice to see Ben Eater explain it and solve it in multiple ways, once using a 555 timer and a capacitor[1] and the other time using just the SR latch of the 555[2].

As I understand it, this is extremely early and shouldn't be used in production, so there are no benchmarks. What's interesting are the ideas of using native JS constructs where React opted for implementing things like hooks, refs

Here’s [1] a blog post introducing Crank.js. It goes into detail as to why the library exists. The main motivator for the creator seems to be that they really disliked the suspense API and wanted to offer a better way using JS generators an

This is addressed in the first paragraph of the article. > "I feel that sharing files between different computers is now a solved issue, and the benefits I get from having personalized my work environments are so great that I gladly

Holy crap, that was amazing. For anybody else that had an outdated toolchain as I did, make sure you run `rustup update`.

Having the option to generate it elsewhere is great, because it does break some pretty big integrity invariants that are assumed by various tools. node_modules shouldn't be changing, specially when there's lockfiles being used.

Notion has what I consider to be the best landing page demo [1]. It's the full application. No need to log in or follow specific steps. Scroll down to the "Choose a workflow" section to try it out. [1] https://www.

Would anybody care to shed some light on the situation? It seems that various commenters have a level of context not present in the linked post.

Really? I’ll get something out this week. My Twitter handle is in my profile. I’ll probably tweet about it when I write it.

We’re actually using ShareDB at Makeswift right now and for us it has become a horrible burden. There are very subtle bugs on their data persistence layer with concurrency and the API is a bit of a mess to work with in my opinion. I’m glad

I’ve been doing a pretty deep dive on CRDTs and OTs to get the right user experience for our collaborative website builder[1]. I’m still not done with the implementation and subsequent testing (i.e., splitting text nodes, as mentioned in th

It is curious indeed. The first time I noticed this curiosity is when I saw Martin Kleppman’s Turning the Database Inside Out [1]. It’s a great watch (or read) and I really recommend it! [1] https://www.confluent.io/blog

Recently saw Martin Kleppman's talk, "Is Kafka a Database" [1]. He pointed out this article on the ideas he and his colleagues have been exploring on distributed data stores. The talk and the article are great and I thought i

With properly configured RBAC this shouldn’t be an issue. The problem is making sure those policies are properly enforced. The tools are there, though.

Gotcha, so things like hot-reloading wouldn’t work right now. Still, looks like y’all are going in the right direction. Thanks for all the details! One more question, is there a way to interop Pulumi with Skaffold or Tilt?

I’ll look into this. What I think Tilt and Skaffold are doing is just setting up a persistent volume to a local directory and letting all the reloading stuff be handled by the end-user. As long as the persistent volume links the local files
