(Give a reason if you are going to downvote me. I've tried this and know first hand that it sucks.) OK. In my experience, this is a poor solution and generally a dumb thing to do. It's hard to use, often breaks, and has pretty horrible prog

The UI looks great! I really like how simple it is to get around and how you're notified when something is going on. My report was a little slow and it let me know I could come back to it at any time. (it wasn't obvious at first) I set the

I agree with you that the best presenters probably don't use handouts or powerpoint but maybe it's because they're gifted speakers. I think it's hard for most people to carry an audience without any supporting material. A few slides won't

I'm not trying to be the dumbass comment but this better make its way to a celebrity phone somewhere. SOMETHING of real value has to come of this... obviously, other than a more secure SMS infrastructure.

These headlines will typically turn into a cheercamp and I was just pointing that out. I probably worded it poorly but let's not applaud or boo at all.

It would be impossible to fine each individual the price of a few albums. They have to grab headlines with a huge figure and hope that it scares enough people away. It's a battle for headlines, they're not actually expecting to see that mon

I think it's pretty obvious why the little guy story is more popular but i think both stories are pretty much the same. Numbers aside, putting a significant fine on a company that's breaking the law is no different than a fine on an individ

This is funny. There's going to be a huge applause for this post but whenever there's an article about an individual being prosecuted for piracy... it's the evil RIAA. Edit: I'm not trying to turn this into a a piracy argument but I do thin

It's probably pretty difficult to filter but there were some serious NSFW pics coming across my screen there. Just a heads up for anyone else who's still at their office.

Were popular names awarded randomly? I went for my name within seconds and it was already taken. It seems like they would just take all requests and randomize for a winner...

Thanks for saving me the time. I wish HN's RSS feed would drop you in the comments for the post instead of sending you directly to the link. Newmogul.com does this and I think it's a better way to serve the feed.

I went to a public school that had a programming track like Spencer but we started at BASIC and ended in an "advanced" C++ class. I jokingly referred to our classes as learning "skills" since we lived so close to the poverty line. We had we

I've never seen them have this many issues before... what's going on over there? They had the problem with the malicious site tags a few weeks and now this. These are major outages... what's changed?

This sounds useful but I don't like the fact that it's named "pv". I've always associated "pv" with physical volume and lvm... might be a little confusing.
