As a young Portuguese-Canadian, I was surprised to find out that most "marmalades" in Canada weren't made of quince. In Portugal, "marmalade" was made of quince, period. The other things were probably called jellie

The title of the link is: "Cold War spy satellites were calibrated with marks in the Arizona desert." And it's technically true. They were calibrated with marks in the Arizona desert. Just not those big crosses. > While

Costco in Canada moved to Mastercard when they dumped Amex. They now accept any Mastercard. But most Canadians probably pay with Interac debit anyway.

That's really easy to do on iOS these days. Maybe the last version or two. You can "markup" PDFs and include signatures, etc.

Yes, everyone I know, in my age range, has moved to France, Switzerland, Canada, etc. We all want to retire in Portugal, but it seems there are few employment opportunities unless you know the right people. I'm sure "retirement&

The trick is to drive normal speed and at the very last second speed like a madman, so that it still has to cycle to amber then red just as you leave the intersection!

The power of an angry glare from an old Portuguese woman (dressed in black) doesn't work in the US.

> Or the speed traps that just trigger a red light. This is the best. You trigger a red light because you're speeding, and everybody around you just glares at you. Including the old woman walking on the side of the street. It&#x

In other words, a solution looking for a problem to solve. Fear definitely works, especially in small-town Portugal. But I'm not sure it will win those votes?

Another aside... Portugal law's are actually strict on video recording. For example, dashcams are technically illegal, since they're collecting of personal information (ie: license plates). It's never been an issue for me,

What are the chances this law actually passes before the assembly is dissolved and there's an election? The government is a minority government, running the country in a failed coalition. Does it have the votes to ram this through?

The plural of anecdotes is not data, but in my relatively small experience, I've had two SSDs die. And when they die, there's usually no warning. One was a windows box with a generic Kingston 480GB. The other was in a 2014 MacBoo

This is a lot like the checklists a lot of industries use, just automated on your shell instead of being on paper. I'm thinking of a pilot's checklist, or an operating theatre checklist.
