Thank you for this very interesting explanation. I've tried to get into Mathematica a couple years ago, but struggled. Can you suggest a good way to scale the learning curve?

Looking through Project Euler solutions sounds like a great way to learn Mathematica!

So, you're saying that it's actually easier to lose weight with a low-carb diet? Well, then, glad we agree. As for the "calorie is a calorie" point of view, I recommend reading the following: http://eatingacad

Have you actually looked at the studies cited, and checked the fat—protein—carbohydrate ratios used? For example, this 2009 study used the following ratios to conclude "low-carb" diets aren't better than regular reduced-calor

Yes, this is the way things have been done since 1965. It sounds simple enough, but as it turns out, in complex systems, this is a common cause of defects. Programmers forget to check things all the time. Assumptions made in different areas

Yes. Also, these low-level primitives already exist in Go, as support for pointers, or references. The missing bit is requiring references to be explicitly annotated as nullable or non-nullable.

I disagree with you on the relative complexity of type systems, and, as someone passionate about my craft, I despair Go is merely good not great, due to what appears to be uninformed design decisions. You may prefer to write in Go, but you

Your puzzling "generic set" isn't what is usually meant by a generic set in a statically typed language. A generic set would be defined disregarding the type of its elements: "set of ?s". However, a single instance of a generic set would o

This is a brilliant talk, and it gives excellent reasons for most design decisions — except making error handling "intentionally clumsy". Why not borrow what is arguably the most important Erlang feature, process linking and supervision? H

So, Go has message passing. Just like Erlang, since 1986. Only without per-process heaps, which make crashing processes safe. And without process linking and supervision, which helps systems built using Erlang/OTP achieve nine nines of upt
