Nah, the idea is that if anyone wants to continue it, they can fork it and create their own infrastructure and management, instead of trying to preserve the existing way things are ran.

While it sounds great that it's finally getting some much-needed love, I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of "we need to have everything systemd has". It's good to be opinionated and come up with solutions of your own

I used funtoo a bit back in the day, and have seen a few of the development videos that drobbins posted. While some funtoo features have been backported to portage and gentoo (git support in portage, distribution kernels), I wish more would

I kind of lament that a format that was invented for dot matrix printers, where switching heads is a costly operation, transfer speeds don't matter since moving the head is a bottleneck, and color accuracy doesn't matter as the te

I would disagree. While I was a bit of an outlier and would use my phone primarily for tinkering, I would also use it to go down rabbit holes on wikipedia, play video games, read books and watch shows. Phones are glorified consumption devic

Last I checked meson supports unit testing shared libraries just fine, as well as building both static and shared libraries "both_libraries()". This integrates fine with testing, though it modifies the binaries' rpath for lib

While I'd love to see good tooling for AppImages appear, it's just not made for it. The fundamental problem is that AppImages are literally just an archive with a bunch of files in them, including libraries and other expected syst

I use librera reader and I have no ads, are you sure you're using the F-Droid version of the app? If you're not, I suggest installing it through F-Droid, as the play store version may have proprietary code in it. Many apps have di

"insecure" is a strong word that shouldn't be used willy-nilly like that. F-Droid recompiles all of its applications to ensure that everything in them is free software, and that the source code provided by the upstream is act

Adware is marked as an Anti-Feature in the details of an app in F-Droid[1]. Since non-free software is not allowed on F-Droid, and most Ad platforms aren't free software, you're unlikely to find any, though. There's currently

I mean, f-droid allows adding custom repositories that don't follow the main one's rules. There's a decent amount of apps that do this for one reason or another. Other apps, like for example OSMAnd, have a special f-droid bui

I'm not entirely sure why this is a problem. Nothing's stopping you from using f-droid as an app source as well as some other store - it doesn't need to cover every use case. It's already a viable alternative for apps wh
