What would happen if you actually did try to textmine it. surely this is a game of chicken because no company wants to lose tens of thousands of dollars a year for no reason. Elsevier is willing to play this game of chicken; they are conv

Is there any reason to believe that this is the case? I'm a member of the ACM and the IEEE, and a lot of other people are; it doesn't seem to me that the modest dues are significantly hindering progress in the field. If, due to some unexpl

Sure, but F and E and completely different letters, even if they are almost identical (except for the little bar at the base of the E that is missing on the F). A and Å are different letters, and can't be substituted for each other.

Recording companies have a monopoly on the artists they cover. And that's the artist's choice. The artist could choose to distribute their work in some other fashion. So, if you want the artist's product, you have to buy it via the mean

This is not really circular at all, merely self-referential; the Constitution also provides a process for it to be amended, so any and all of it's provisions could be repealed or rewritten without having to get a foreign government involved

Does this mean that any time you want to sidestep an actual examination of the merits of an argument in the Supreme Court you just need to ensure there's an international treaty in your favour? That ought to do the job; Article VI of the

Your next idea should be to get some external validation of your idea. A co-founder is a good way to do this. You seem to think that "changing the way advertising works" is something that can be done by 3 devs is 12 months, and success (la

Most Buddhist monks could easily get under the "15 things" limit-- the standard list of possessions is: three robes, an alms bowl, a cloth belt, a needle and thread, a razor for shaving the head, and a water filter.

The quickest way to get from point A to point B, in this case, is the SICP video lectures: http://groups.csail.mit.edu/mac/classes/6.001/abelson-sussma... If you can spare two hours a day for two weeks (or the equivalent) you're golden.

It's worth noting that a lot of the dates mentioned in this article are far from the scholarly consensus on the matter; to take one example, the attribution of the Puranas to Vyasa is roughly similar to the attribution of the Pentateuch to
