As part of my electronics training many years ago we did a subject on TV repair as a practical introduction to circuit design, at the same time we studied transistors from a more theoretical perspective at college. I will always remember th

I did it for many years. It is not for the weak. The hellgrind plug-in for valgrind saved my ass big time here and there. Without threads a program needs to have zero bugs, with threads you need a negative bug count. You will get that joke

It seems to me, inn Sydney, open offices are being used even more. If they are such shite, who is making the decisions? As far as I can see, from this thread, many others and talking to people, anecdotally, the most minor set of people actu

I agree, both reasons. The funny thing about this, in a dark funny way, is, management often offers a veto right to the team. They say "if you don't rate the new manager you can deny". Then, they hire anyway, in my experience

Except that the usual thing is to pay the new guy more and believe his story that the tech he used at the last gig, that he is now an expert in, is better than how you did it. Now management makes the new expert the boss. Next thing the old

But platform.io is good and cheap. You can do most things with the free version and the pro version with remote debugging is pretty reasonable. The plus is, even though it is based around Atom, it's not a 20G download, as the vendor ID

Also, in Sydney, quite a few of these make you sign away the rights to the end result in exchange for the prize. (Free publicity and you can work on it further for funding as a contractor). Imagine if you actually had a good idea and you ca

Here in Australia, it is only sales people (cars, real estate, finanicial products), politicians and the CEO in front of the press. There is a very good reason not to trust anyone in a suit anymore.

But circumstantial evidence is to show cause or motive in these cases. Correlation niether proves cause or motive. It is my understanding that, in the case of a person vs corporation, correlation is all that is needed. This is not proof.

Also there is some sort of system here where you can pay for a expert witness who will confirm your story. As a foreigner living here I can't get anyone to explain it to me with any sense.

Also Skype created pgpool to use Postgresql as a queue at massive scale. As much it is often called an 'anti-pattern', it is durable and can massively scale way beyond the likely size of most companies, unless they need more scale

Actually knowing where you are at puts you way ahead of the curve. Many developers don't even know they are not that good. If you love it and seem to have excelled already in a similar area you just need time. Even just knowing that go

I think you mean specific problems. Hard math problems are extreme outliers in fhe realm of computer science and there are plenty of suitably qualified people in the maths side. That said, less hard problems, more suitable programmers with

Oyster cards are settled between the reader and the card at the time of contact (then the reader will batch the transactions for forwarding later). POS are generally settled on the switch network, obviously this takes a lot longer.

Game engines are pretty much completely sitting on complex tree structures. Way more than the DOM. The main reason the DOM all looks so tricky is it is a hack on a hack on a hack. A lot of game engines have been rewritten from scratch many

Test coverage is a plus but not more important. We have an end to end test system that runs on each commit. What I am saying is perfect code, simply written is way way more important than complete coverage. Tests, on my experience, don'
