Having used both. If I look around I see Chef used less and less and Ansible more and more but that does not mean there is a valid path from Chef to Ansible when you way more than a trivial number of hosts. I'd say go from Chef to Salt

It is ironic that reddit achieved much of its success on the back of the complete failure of digg.com to recognise that the people who use your site don't want a bunch of radical changes shoved down their throat. We will probably see t

The popular Trezor wallet has a hardware vulnerability, where, if you physically have the hardware it can be exploited. Hardware wallets are a vast improvement but not without issues. Large scale fraud, where the money goes missing is much

The well publiced Pexa fraud is an example. The money was wired off-shore and lost. https://www.propertyobserver.com.au/forward-planning/advice-...

While this is largely true, it is pretty common for large amounts of money to be irreversibly lost in an untraceable manner. Wirecard comes to mind this week but a simple search for 'financial fraud' will bring up typical losses m

One of the most incredible examples of this I have experienced was the update to the Android 'Pocket Casts' app. It worked great, had useful functionality and was easy to use and navigate. I had a paid version I thought was great

It seems to me gmail has not changed much in the last few years. Search is much the same but worse. The only change seems to be snippets that, for me, usually host some badly scraped content from another site with wrong answers but more eff

I'd vote they just delist news.com.au. It's a PIA when some search returns tags.news.com.au that is blocked by pihole. It's a cesspit of news biased news anyway. Sure, other newspapers are biased as hell and many just a voice

I have an ESP8266 running MQTT to make an alert on a speaker (I2C) on demand. I just looked at the counter I periodically send to MQTT. It has been up for over 200 days. It does not leak.

We had this issue down here in Australia with a firm called MSY. They refused to offer returns on defective products. That is not legal down here (we are somewhat like CA in terms of consumer protection) and the ACCC fined them $200K AUD. T

Is this a common thing in the US? I am from Australia and the cost for managing individual product returns is a cost of business, something you take into account when pricing. There is an insurance product called 'Product Liability

While this is true of programs like Rhino, it's not as true for fusion360. There are no NURBS in fusion360. I would guess that the fusion360 kernel is very focussed on deterministic solutions, specially being constraint based, where t

My initial training was in aviation ground electronics. I could still design and build a superhet AM receiver from scratch and build from the parts in my workshop here. I am well aware of how immensely complicated the cell-phone system is.
