I think the keyword "optimal" in your 4th sentence is what he meant. There is an old saying that "You should pay employees enough so that they don't have to worry about making more money, but not enough so that they won't have to continue w

If this was a small tool with no dependencies, then it would be a clear winner over a heavy-weight install of apache, just to serve it. But, as is, I don't see the real benefit over apache, unless you already have redis and node running.

This is fantastic! A Javascript library that can transport you back to 1996 Geocities! Seriously, it is nice to start seeing sound tools for Javascript. Javascript, CSS, and HTML5 were to be the great Flash Slayers, but the things that Flas

I understand the commercial need to make money, but if you have to trade your credibility in for the cash, it is probably a sign that your business model is over. Time to close the doors, or find a realistic method of finance.

Until you experience the unrelenting hunger for your data by the gnawing mouths of the multitudes, it is hard to understand what a big job it is to hold them back. I have almost had panic attacks from (comparatively) much smaller user-bases

On your second point, that is like saying that the 3 years and 80 million dollars spent developing a game should be ignored because it made 90 million in the first 24 hours.

My love for programming changed some years ago into a "brass tacks", utilitarian method of mostly just scripting (python, ruby) and moving on. Gone are the days that I spent hours making my code faster, more beautiful, more compact. And you

When I was 14, the only easily available microcomputer was the TRS-80. You couldn't save your programs (unless you owned a tape-player that saved files), it got 40 rods to the hogshead and that was the way we liked it!
