Being one stepped removed from the suicide nets really changes nothing about what I said. Still entirely within their control and responsibility.

Would be cool if they also thought about the manufacturing side of the house who as I seem to recall had to install “suicide nets” on site because conditions were so poor that staff were killing themselves in such large numbers.

Just as a heads up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau recently launched a whistleblowing program for people who work in tech who see sketchy stuff going on around them that is worth checking out if you have something to share https:&

I went down a similar path during covid from Ruby and decided to look at native development options for the first time and landed on Flutter instead. I have to say reading through this thread I am so glad I didn’t go down the Swift route it

I guess that’s the part where we differ. I can’t help but see an inevitable merging between the idea of a native app and a web app until they are possible to be one and the same. So for me the browser is more of a rendering pipeline that ca

I think to be fair to Flutter their entire concept of web support is literally months old at this point outside of beta, it obviously has a long road ahead of it to become more web native. At the same time, I think that we need to start thi

That was the impression I had from the outside. They were clearly number 1 for a long time and I guess that’s when everyone made the decision and now the idea of migrating is not feasible for most.

I don’t actually know that much about the AWS ecosystem at all but to me from the outside I wouldn’t even consider doing anything greenfield there they already seem so far behind in terms of offerings some of which you touched on there but

This is literally what knative is. I don’t know the AWS world at all but at least in GCP their main ideas of serverless are: 1. Knative: open source standards based serverless platform that’s in the process of making its way into the CNCF.

I don’t imagine this is really the kind of thing you can get into publicly but I’d love to know more about why a bank of all places doesn’t want to pay for RHEL and just go with the free fork instead.
