The host provides a rosetta directory share to the guest. The guest registers the shared interpreter with binfmt_misc on the VM to launch x86_64 ELF binaries. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/virtualization

Maybe about 1.7km/s at 75km apogee [0] for a low earth orbit of around 7-8km/s at 200km. Then a regular(ish) rocket housed inside the centrifuge launch vehicle would separate and make up the rest. 0: https://twitter.com

I think the reentry vehicles are a slightly different branch of development to the X-15. The precursor programs highlight the evolution of the basic idea of "we need something dropped from orbit to survive" on to Shuttle/Bura

I find it mildly amusing that to help redirect away from centralised services, there's an uber centralised service to help.

Any reduction in memory managed by VMWare would be savings though. Say they need 50% of the VMWare license this year and 5% next year they're probably still happy. At least happy until whatever IBM has been promising behind closed door

Not really, a phone isn't assigned a random number from a pool every time you turn it on or reconnect to a tower, then given to other users ad hoc. A static IP maybe, except the IP is portable to a new AS if/when you want to move

Why does the rosetta binfmt_misc setup exclude starting amd64 containers? It's the same functionality the Docker desktop arm64 VM currently uses to run the process for an amd64 container via qemu (or any non arm64 container).
