The one thing I really want is for someone to make it so I can use it in F#. Presumably it's possible given how the python bit is implemented under the hood?

As with every other Microsoft business product it's a name with no ideology. No sense of what and what not to do.

I still don't like dataframes but oh my God Polars is so much better than pandas. I was doing some time series calculations, simple equity price adjustments basically, in Polars and my two thoughts were: - WTF, I can actually read the

It depends. In a linear rates shop (i.e. not trading options), almost all of the effort goes to tuning the deterministic bit of this equation. Thousands upon thousands of lines of code to do a problem that most books don't even mention

Most of these types of articles I'd imagine will be right but there is some truth in the argument that "Ah, you see, the system is merely so complicated and murky that you can't understand it!" is damning too

There's a difference between urban jungle and (say) nice 5 story European city buildings. Londons problem for example is that they tried to be clever and cheap at the same time in the 60s and now we're stuck with it.

It's a tool for fetching things and making sure what you fetch is what it's supposed to be. For facebook in particular I'd guess it's basically just a bootstrapping step for buck2 and other basic tools like that. Contain

This is more reproducible than most things people come up with ad-hoc, it insists upon the hash of the thing it downloads.

Absolutely love this style of tool management. Why do we ever install anything? Edit: consider also git bisect!

This is actually also the main thing I have ChatGPT write for me e.g. I can have it dial the level of mathematics to exactly where I can be bothered to tolerate (sometimes life is too short for symbols)

Stackexchanges are some of favourite things to idly read. Short, snappy, nice LaTeX and so on. And then you sometimes you have just sublimely creative people answering e.g. Ron Maimon's answers on physics SE are a goldmine

I'm being quite serious. I suppose the closest thing to an analytical description of what I have in my head is that the way I've seen women prompt chatgpt is probably much closer to how its trained as part of RLHF, but more deeply

A pet theory of mine is that women will be better at using AI for all but the most analytical/symbolic work (even this may not hold but I'd imagine the crossover is around there) I have no mechanism but it feels true.

Is it dearer than storage though? my understanding was always that carbon capture if worth doing at all is for situations where the wind isn't blowing and the sun is dim (this nearly led to blackouts in uk recently)

I guess this is a tangent, but Nix to me feels like the right idea with the wrong abstraction. I can't explain / it would take a serious bit of genius to come up with an alternative worth switching to. Has anyone done any better?
