Ah, you youngsters. Trust me, it is FAR easier now to get started than any time in computing history. Before GitHub, you installed SVN or CVS on your own. Before that you accidentally overwrote your software once a month. Before Cloudan

I've tried many chairs but none of the expensive ones (except for briefly sitting in an Aeron, which I liked). The last chair I bought was a $99 chair from Office Max, similar to this one: http://www.officemax.com/office-furniture/chairs/

Deep Blue was "in the early days of AI"??? The OP needs to study the field before making such pronouncements. There were many breakthroughs in AI 30 years before Deep Blue. See, for example, Arthur Samuel's checker program from the early

I'm not sure these technology-based analyses are correct. I had four teenagers at the time and they all switched from MySpace to Facebook because the MySpace pages got cluttered with glaring ads. The Facebook layout was cleaner and had no

I'm exactly like you. Everyone looks the same to me. But my ex-wife is exactly the opposite. We once walked into a very crowded baseball game at Candlestick park looking for a friend who was somewhere in the crowd (we had no idea where).

I once attended a talk by Carl Sagan where, during the question-answer session, someone mentioned how much we could learn from "primitive societies". Sagan replied that we should not glorify such lives. In addition to other things, he sai

Expecting a good answer to this question in 30 minutes without any warning is totally unreasonable. Expecting anyone to implement a deployable, generalizable, tested solution to this in two weeks is totally ridiculous. I wouldn't work at

I had exactly the same problem and never quite solved it despite ending up as a research scientist at a world-class university. My best advice is to find an engineering-oriented advisor, even if they are from another department. If that fai
