Wild shot, but does anyone have data sets on how different languages compress in a similar manner? It would be an interesting mix of letters/phonemes used, word length etc.

Is the field of competition so ripe here? I'm seeing Go, but what else? It seems a lot of the other languages: - don't have an easy compilation story (interpreted, VM, compilers as secondary implementations) - lean more on the fun

Nobody is ever talking about the original Dartmouth BASIC, so we're really talking about a vast language family here. Arguably with more difference between different strands than e.g. within the BCPL family.

Yeah, I read the first one a while ago and really enjoyed the world building. Guess someone who's really into mapping won't disappoint on that front.

I got OS/2 2.x when IBM sold it very cheaply one time (about 60 Deutschmarks, I think). But it came on soo many floppies and had such requirements that I never got around to install it. I used the floppies years after for warez, though

Interesting theories in the replies. But no, those blacked out sections are there in the original book, not added by the blog poster. Probably to stretch the few ad sentences over a whole page (or two).

Did I miss a study in the article? There's a bit about general muscle mass loss, a study about bariatric bypass surgery, and then some generic advice to take protein. This looks a bit like a supplement ad.

Speaking of RPG layout troubles, does anyone know of a good package/method of easily placing images? LaTeX itself is mostly focused on figures, and the solutions I found (like e.g. D&D 5E layouts) are rather specific. Ideally I
