Your response is a non sequitur . You stated There's no mention of what the filename was. Neither the basename, nor the extension. My comment merely quoted a 37signals employee giving the filename, both basename and extension. You can be

While it's tempting to treat "resourcefulness" as a trait intrinsic to founders, in my experience it can be a sharp function of the founder/startup fit. When I did YC, I didn't feel resourceful at all, but that's because I was working on th

I think the resume is terrible, but even worse is the idea that you need a resume to get a job. If you need a resume to get a job, you're probably doing it wrong. You might need one to appease some paper-shuffler in HR, but for skilled pr

Though not quite a crime drama, something like this has already happened. A woman trying to get a kidney transplant was informed that two of her sons couldn't be hers. Complications ensued. http://www.katewerk.com/chimera.html

WHY CAN'T PEOPLE KEEP THEIR GYM PROMISES? FOR THE SAME REASON CONGRESS CAN'T PASS DEFICIT REDUCTION. Congress doesn't have the proper incentives to reduce the deficit. People do have good incentives to go to the gym. (Coincidentally, I ju

I'm impressed (though not particularly surprised) at how well the Viaweb home page has aged. It's a good example of an observation from pg's "Taste for Makers" ( http://www.paulgraham.com/taste.html ): Good design is timeless. Indeed. We

This might be true of an equal partner, but bringing someone on board with, say, a 20% stake is easier if you're further along.

One possible reason for this change is that Justin.tv has long used Twisted ( http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/ ) for their network engine, and Twisted is written in Python. I'm not sure if they're still using Twisted, but if they are there mi

Although it's easy to become accustomed to it, it's pretty obvious the child care world has some serious issues in diversity. By this I mean that it has some notable differences in proportions of people compared to the general population. O

It's worth noting that this isn't a standalone article; it's lesson 55 in "Learn C the Hard Way". In other words, this isn't meant to be a thorough critique. It's just one lesson of many.

The solution to all such problems is as obvious as it is unlikely to happen. It's not "women get six years' vacation if they want it". It's not "at-will employment". It's complete freedom of contract in the context of secure, effective,
