Does the author realize that Excel is not used to run banks or to track the space shuttle? I'm sure he does. He's exaggerating for effect. (Well, at least he is regarding the Space Shuttle.)

A quick heads-up for those who think (as I once did) that it might be cool to learn Latin just to read the Meditations without translation: its original title is Τὰ εἰς ἑαυτόν (i.e., Marcus Aurelius wrote the Meditations in Greek).

I didn't understand what the big deal was until I drove to downtown LA last night. Google Maps turn-by-turn directions instructed me to make a U turn in the middle of the 110S freeway (which would have crashed me into the center divide

What resources did you use to learn to turn wood into a raised garden bed? Or was it so simple that you just figured it out on your own?

Excellent comment. One quick heads-up on formatting: if you use asterisks instead of underscores to emphasize text, the HN text processor will actually set the text in italics. For example, instead of writing rather the _opportunity_

Gracias por esto. Entre otras cosas, la traducción de inglés no puede capturar la sutileza de "había de recordar" o "conocer el hielo". En inglés Aureliano Buendía podía ver el hielo, pero en español podía conocerlo .

The "don't break the chain" rule is brittle: if you do break the chain, your motivation can crater. I think [Beeminder]( http://beeminder.com/ ) has a clever solution to this problem; it gives you a way to tr

It's interesting to see a mention of "full stack" startups. I hadn't realized that investors have identified such companies as being members of a distinct category.

It might be worth noting that publishing sites like Leanpub and Softcover have integrated e-commerce features, so they solve the payments and distribution problems as well.

This is great news. One quick suggestion: I recommend dropping the material on Bitcoin's unsuitability as a store of value or unit of account, or at least softening the language to sound less certain. It's possible that these view

I think Ferriss's beloved 80/20 rule applies to Ferriss himself: 80% of the value comes from 20% of his material. There is, to be sure, a lot of hyperbole, but once you filter out the dross what's left is gold.
